  1. International Day of Human Space Flight is observed annually on 12 April to commemorate the beginning of human space exploration, acknowledge the significant contribution of space science and technology, and ensure the realization of the conservation of outer space for peaceful purposes.
  2. International Day of Street Children (IDSC) is annually observed across the globe on 12 April to create awareness about the difficulties faced by the children who live on the streets and demand equal rights for them. 
  3. Kerala State Inland Navigation Corporation (KSINC) has launched India’s first solar-powered tourist boat called ‘Sooryamshu’ that can produce 27 KW of energy.
  4. Pattabhi Ram and Sabyasachee Dash has co-authored a new book titled ‘The Great Bank Robbery: NPAs, Scams and the Future of Regulation’ which discusses 11 scams that have rocked India since its independence (1947).
  5. The highest decoration of Poland, the Order of the White Eagle, was presented to Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky by the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, during a meeting between the two leaders at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw.
  6. President Droupadi Murmu took a historic sortie in a Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter aircraft at Tezpur Air Force Station in Assam on 8 april, 2023.
  7. Adani Power Ltd, one of India’s leading private sector power generation companies, recently opened a new power plant in Jharkhand, India. This state-of-the-art power plant has a capacity of 1,600 MW and is expected to supply electricity to Bangladesh.
  8. Argentina topped the FIFA ranking for the first time in over six years, released by the Fédération Internationale de football association (FIFA) on 6 April, 2023.
  9. Russia remains the top supplier of crude oil to India for the last six consecutive months, from October 2022 to March 2023.
  10. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 8 April, 2023 flagged off the Secunderabad-Tirupati Vande Bharat Express train in Hyderabad.
  11. The Automotive Tyre Manufacturers’ Association has announced that Anshuman Singhania, who is currently serving as the Managing Director of JK Tyre & Industries Ltd, has been chosen as its new Chairman and Arnab Banerjee, Managing Director and CEO of CEAT Ltd has taken over as the Vice-Chairman.
  12. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is set to introduce a new secured web-based portal called ‘PRAVAAH’ (Platform for Regulatory Application, Validation And Authorisation) aimed at simplifying and streamlining the application processes.
  13. Chile is keen to partner with India in exploring the possibilities offered by the discovery of the estimated 5.9-million-tonne reserve of lithium in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.
  14. Indian Navy on 6 April, 2023 conducted ‘Prasthan’, a bi-annual co-ordinated exercise along with other defence, state and civilian agencies in the offshore development area off Mumbai.  
  15. The Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (Tidco) has developed a mechanism called Tamil Nadu Regional Aerial Connectivity through Helicopters (TN REACH), which aims to utilize over 80 unused helipads across the state to provide intercity and town connectivity. 
  16. On 10 April, 2023 former Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Tamil Nadu, Naresh Gupta, an IAS officer of the 1973 batch hailing from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, passed away in Chennai, Tamil Nadu at the age of 72.
